Pastoral Letter

The following is a letter from our pastors.

The only thing that can guard our hearts and minds is the peace of God.

We seem to be living in times of instability and confusion, moral and societal chaos. The Church should be an island of stability and a haven of peace in this stormy life, because she is established on the Rock, Christ Jesus. His righteousness and His rule establishes and preserves the Family of Believers who make up our church, Christ Reformed Church of Albany.

When we gather together to worship our Holy God, we find that He builds our peace through faith in Him. Christ alone delivers us from the guilt and power of our sins. He works through the preaching of the Bible to grow in us the peaceable fruit of righteousness.

When we worship together, we recognize Jesus’ righteousness and rule. Our worship as a church turns our gaze from the confusion of this world to the beauty of holiness found in Christ Jesus. With the help of God, we listen and learn to obey his Word. We pray and plead with God for help and strength. We learn more of the glory of God and his mighty acts of power and providence. We sing hymns of praise and thanksgiving to His name. We encourage one another, stirring one another up to love and good works. We present the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ to a world of sinners who can have no peace with God without it.

Jesus Himself said, “Come to me all of you who are weary and heavily weighed down and I will give you rest.” As a church and servants of our Lord Jesus Christ, we invite you to come and worship the Lord with us. He has called all men, women, and children to bow down before him.

Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! (1 Chronicles 16:29)
